“A Radio Hero” – the stories surrounding the development of Black radio programming in Birmingham, Alabama covering the period 1936 through 1963, with particular attention to Paul “Tall Paul” White, the most significant announcer during Birmingham’s civil rights movement.

  1. I listened to Righteous Williams back in the 60’s and so did all my friends. I think he was on WENN or WJLD. I’m old, I forget. Does anyone have any recordings of his shows? He would intro a song with a poem. Just fantastic.
